Slip and falls especially dangerous for elderly

Colorado slip and fall accidents can result in serious injuries for the elderly, such as back injuries, neck injuries, broken bones, knee injuries, hip dislocation, and head trauma including traumatic brain injury (TBI). Seniors are at a higher risk for injuries resulting from falls because their balance and strength aren't what they used to be, their bones are more fragile and their bodies aren't as agile. A report released in August 2008 by the Colorado Department of Health and Environment sadly reveals an average of 297 seniors in Colorado age 65 and older die from fall accidents every year. These statistics are alarming for Colorado seniors; however, the state of Colorado isn't alone. These numbers reflect an accurate picture for fatalities and injuries seniors sustain nationwide. The Centers for Disease Control points to falls as the primary cause of traumatic brain injury in seniors who are over the age of 75 nationwide.
