Tim's legal career started in 1988 when he joined the United States Air Force as a Judge Advocate. During his 11 years of service, Tim was hand-picked for several elite positions, including Circuit Trial Counsel, Appellate Government Counsel, and instructor of Advocacy at the Air Force Judge Advocate General School.
